Online Safety

Online Safety

In PSHE, children learn about how to stay safe online in every year group. This unit of work is age-appropriate and is progressive throughout the school.

In EYFS and KS1, children learn basic rules about how to stay safe online, including what is meant by personal information and the importance of telling a trusted adult if they come across something that scares or worries them.
In LKS2, online safety topics include learning about the importance of following and complying with regulations and age restrictions and how to respond safely and appropriately to others online (whom they may or may not know.)
In UKS2, topics of study include learning about how to evaluate the reliability of sources and the importance of being careful about what they forward to others. Also, in KS2, the topic of Online Relationships is introduced in an age-appropriate way.
Online Safety is embedded in all Computing and PSHE topics and is regularly refreshed through assemblies and events such as Safer Internet Day.
